Randy McGinnis a Cherokee Indian, and was born into the Deer Clan. Randy currently lives in Knoxville TN with his wife Marsha. He plays songs that he grew up listening to as a small boy. They inspired him to learn to play these songs on the flute.
Randy was presented a prestigious award from R. Carlos Nakai for the promotion, preservation and Education of the Native American Flute.
Randy founded the Smoky Mountain Flute Circle in Townsend, Tennessee. He is also the Founder, President /CEO of Echota Technologies, a Corporation in Alcoa TN. Randy had the honor of being given the small business owner of the year award for the state of Tennessee.
Other accomplishments include making Deer Star Productions, a Native American Record mark. His first recording Ancient Voices of the Smoky Mountains gives fantastic insight to the heartfelt music that is made. Randy also takes time out of his busy schedule to teach children and adults how to play the flute by offering classes at the Fantastic Smoky Mountain Heritage Center.
